One of our regular go-to spots in the county of Caithness is the sprawling Dunnet Beach, which is also very close to a favourite puffin spotting site at Dunnet Head. There's also the famous Dunnet Bay Distillery which sports Rock Rose Gin as its flagship spirit, but there's also a spot which we only visited […]
An earlier visit in the year to Latheronwheel Harbour revealed signs towards Latheronwheel Strath. Until we set foot on this beautiful glen, we didn't realise the incredible work that local volunteers do in creating and maintaining the magical Latheronwheel fairy glen, which you can find next to the woodland burn which runs down into the […]
I've written previously about a trip to Lybster Harbour, which has taken a star turn recently in featuring as a filming location for The Crown. However, the East Coast of Caithness is jam-packed with more harbours, and after we visited Laidhay Croft Museum, we chose a beautiful day to visit Latheronwheel Harbour.

Thurso is the most northerly town on the UK mainland, and is one of two main settlements in the county of Caithness. Our little county suffers from 'passing-through' syndrome […]
Inverness City Guide | What to see, do, eat & drink in the Highland Capital
Inverness is the capital of the Scottish Highlands, and there is plenty to do, see, eat and drink in this city. Inverness is handily located at the start/end of the NC500. Having lived in this rapidly growing city from 2013-2017, and being a regular visitor since moving to Caithness, I felt it was finally time […]
Scottish Beaches | My pick of awesome sand and sea in the Highlands & Islands
If you have any experience of Scottish scenery, you may well know that Scottish beaches are some of the cleanest and most scenic in the world (I may be biased!) In this post I'll take you on a tour of some of my favourites in the Highlands and Islands region. While some of the big […]
